Chiropractors, Backbones, and Other Ramblings

I want to renew my mind.  This is the adjustment where everything else is affected.

Last night I read about upper cervical care adjustments.

I did not understand at first that the upper cervical care was done with a chiropractor.  And although I have scoliosis (I remember the actual bruises that I received as a student at God’s Bible School in the hard theater-type seats), I have found nothing delightful in a chiropractor. So I don’t go!

One of the most uncomfortable memories I have from my labor and delivery experiences has been when they made me lie on my back. (Will I ever forget being strapped to that gurney as they flew me by helicopter to Wichita?)

But this research had me mesmerized.  They described conditions that I see in people around me…my mother-in-law, my husband, people I work with, and my children.

The solution in so many cases was upper cervical care…that area where the brainstem is connected to the head.

The top-two bones of the vertebral column, the atlas and axis, being in proper position affect the nervous system, skeletal system, the lymph system…really everything!

I heard testimonials of people who took high-powered pain medicine for years, people who had TMJ issues, and people who had lived with headaches for years. There were people who were being treated for many different things…but they were treating the symptoms, not the source.

Do we do the same thing spiritually?

Ephesians chapter four talks about getting adjusted or patterning your life after the world who have pointless thinking with no sense of right and wrong…people who are in the dark morally.

This chapter gives a recipe for spiritual solutions.  It speaks of putting away all the wrong things like fits of anger, lying, and thievery.  It speaks of putting on love and kindness and opening our hearts to what the Spirit brings.  To clothe ourselves in holiness.

But first, we need to start with Christ as the head (verse 16), and make sure we are in balance there.

I cannot say (and neither can a practitioner without an x-ray) whether upper cervical treatment will solve the tingling in my husband’s arm or help my children’s TMJ (of which I have already spent thousands of dollars) or my mother-in-law’s crooked spine or my friend’s sciatic nerve pain.  I can’t tell that.

The professionals say that when these bones are corrected, it gives the body a chance to heal…and things all the way down the line can start getting in place.

Christ is the head.  If we get that aligned, then all the muscles and ligaments down the line will work the way God designed it.

I know the atlas and axis on our spiritual brainstem can be knocked  out of alignment!  I’ve seen it happen!

Fifty years ago, my in-laws used to sing “I Don’t Want To Get Adjusted” by the Happy Goodmans.  The words say, “I’ve got a home that’s so much better.  I’m gonna go there sooner or later, and I don’t want to get adjusted to this world.”

“And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;” Ephesians 4:23

Renew the thinking in your mind by the Spirit…adjust in Him.  I want a heavenly adjustment.

I did the same thing! In fact I followed the link to research it further. Then I discovered a practitioner in Independence who specializes in this. Within a few weeks I should be able to tell you if we had any success. 😉
